GP2 returns to action this weekend in Spain as the next generation of F1 stars do battle across 22 races at 11 different venues. 24 drivers will be on the grid in Barcelona, all driving identical Dallara-built cars, fitted with normally-aspirated 4.0 litre V8 engines. Having a spec-car makes the series more about the driver, while DRS and Pirelli tyres help prepare each competitor for a potential future in F1.
BARCELONA, Spain -- Getafe fought back for a sorely needed 3-1 victory at Valencia on Sunday, breaking a 15-round winless streak and escaping from the Spanish leagues relegation zone. Getafes first away win since Oct. 31 and first under new coach Cosmin Contra lifted the struggling Madrid-based side one point clear of the drop. Forwards Angel Lafita, Ciprian Marica and Pedro Leon scored for Getafe after Eduardo Vargas opened at Mestalla Stadium. Tempers flared in the final moments after Leon apparently provoked the crowd following his goal.

MONTREAL -- Mixed martial arts star Georges St-Pierre says the Ultimate Fighting Championships hesitant position when it came to stiffer drug testing greatly influenced his decision to take a break from the octagon. St-Pierre said Tuesday a lack of strenuous drug testing was one of the factors that led to his decision to step away from the sport. "It bothered me greatly, it was one of the reasons I decided to step aside," St-Pierre said Tuesday. He vacated his welterweight title and took a hiatus from the sport in December, citing a need to lead a normal life and deal with mental fatigue.
SINGAPORE -- Paula Creamer sank a 75-foot eagle putt on the second playoff hole against Azahara Munoz to win the HSBC Womens Champions on Sunday for her first LPGA title since the 2010 U.S. Womens Open. Creamers putt curled across the 18th green and then rolled slowly down the slope and directly into the hole. She ran across the green, then fell to her knees and put her head on the ground, laughing and pounding the grass. "Its one of those putts where if you just get it in the right spot, its going to fall down," she said.
It appears Albertas Val Sweeting has looked east to fill out her team for next season. According to PEICurling.com, Sweeting has added seven-time New Brunswick champion skip Andrea Crawford to play third. Last season, Sweeting won the Road to the Roar Curling Pre-Trials before missing the playoffs at the Roar of the Rings Trials.

Davis left Friday nights game against Kansas City after four innings and has not played since. Baltimore did not make a move Sunday to fill the roster spot. The Orioles are off Monday, and manager Buck Showalter said the team will fill out the 25-man roster before Tuesdays game against Pittsburgh.
