ARLINGTON, Texas -- Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys first-team offence are still looking for their first touchdown this preseason with Bill Callahan calling the plays. Eight-time Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten, coming off a record-setting season, still doesnt even have a catch. "Yeah, dont want to hurt that spleen, you know," Witten joked this week about the injury he sustained last preseason before his 110 catches, an NFL single-season record for tight ends. There really is no reason to be too concerned about Romo and Witten, but it would be nice to get in the end zone Saturday night in what will likely be their most extensive and last game action before things count for real. "Absolutely," Witten said. "Its all right though. You work on it in practice doing that stuff and this is the same system even though its a different play-caller, Im sure that will all work out." Dallas plays the fourth of its five preseason games, the first at home, against Cincinnati. It comes two weeks before the season opener against the New York Giants. The five series Romo has played this preseason have resulted in a field goal, a missed field goal, a punt and lost fumbles at the end of two big plays. The only score came after a drive started inside the Oakland 20 and lost 4 yards before the kick. Last weekend in a 12-7 loss at Arizona, Romo completed 7 of 10 passes for 142 yards but was undone by two fumbles at end of completed passes, one inside the 10 and another by Dez Bryant. Those were the first of five first-half turnovers by the Cowboys, and six overall. "There were a lot of good things in the game, really in all three phases," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "I think we have grown each of three weeks of the preseason. We made progress in each of those areas and there were a lot of really good individual plays. ... The overwhelming story of the ball game was the six turnovers and one takeaway." It will be a homecoming of sorts for third-year Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton, who played the first game of his TCU senior season at the Cowboys stadium, a victory over Oregon State that started a 13-0 season culminating with a Rose Bowl victory. Dalton is first quarterback to lead the Bengals to the playoffs each of his first two seasons, and most of their offence is mostly intact from a year ago. "There hasnt been a whole lot of new learning gong on so far," Dalton said. "Everybody basically knows what were doing. Thats going to make us better going into the season." The Bengals starting offence last week had 220 yards, including 115 yards passing and a touchdown by Dalton while going 9-of-14 passing, and built a 17-3 lead against Tennessee. Pro Bowl receiver A.J. Green might be even back for a few plays against the Cowboys. Green bruised his left knee during the first training camp workout and returned to practice last week without playing so far in the Bengals two preseason victories. Bengals starting running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis sat out last weekends game just to get a rest, providing an opportunity for 5-foot-9 Giovani Bernard, the second-round pick who had seven carries for 37 yards and a touchdown and turned a short pass into a 22-yard gain against the Titans. Bernard is expected to get a lot of time this season as the backup running back and on passing plays. "Hes not afraid," offensive co-ordinator Jay Gruden said. "He may not run over people like Adrian Peterson, but hell make some people miss. Hes hard to find in there." Patrick Ewing Jersey. The 24-year-old right winger has one assist in nine games this season with the Sabres. In his career, he has three goals and six assists in 43 NHL games. Phil Jackson Jersey. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning are disappointed, though not discouraged. http://www.nbaknicksauthority.com/frank-ntilikina-knicks-jersey-c-24/. The photograph shows Parker and a French comedian making a gesture known in France as a "quenelle," which critics describe as inverted Nazi salute. Parker said in a statement released through the Spurs that the photograph was taken three years ago. Parker, who was born in Belgium but raised in France, said he didnt know at the time that "it could be in any way offensive or harmful. Tracy McGrady Jersey. - A pitch clock will be used this season during minor league games at Triple-A and Double-A, but it has been ruled out for the major leagues this year. Carmelo Anthony Jersey. Kerber will next play Estonias Kaia Kanepi, who beat American qualifier Victoria Duval 6-1, 6-3. In other first-round matches, Lucie Safarova beat 2010 French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 6-4 and American Bethanie Mattek-Sands had a 6-4, 6-3 win over Canadas Eugenie Bouchard. Each week, The Reporters put their thumbs out to the good and the bad in the world of sports. This week, they discuss sports off-day, the MLB All-Star game, Canadas field lacrosse team and Huston Streets comments upon being traded. Bruce Arthur, Toronto Star My thumb is up to Wednesday of this past week. Now, you probably read and heard a lot of sympathetically depressed moaning about how it was the slowest sports day of the year - no baseball, no hockey, no basketball, no football, and nothing to entertain those in search of sports except... Well, Major League Soccer, the Tour de France, and the ESPYs, featuring Drake. Thats hardly nothing, the semi-vacancy of the ESPYs aside, but you know what? Good. We could use some time with less sports. The days are packed with sports. Christmas day is basically a basketball tournament now. We could use some time to breathe, take a walk, reconnect with family, learn to make a bookshelf. Sports are fun, no question. But how can we miss them when they wont go away? Steve Simmons, Toronto Sun My thumb is down to major league baseball, the Minnesota Twins and broadcasters of the All-Star game for failing to appropriately recognize the passing of Tony Gwynn just one month ago. Its not like Gwynn was just another player. He was a 15-time All-Star, perhaps the most beloved figure in a game with not enough beloved figures, and yet somehow there was no tribute to Gwynn throughout the three hour Derek Jeter infomercial that we endured. And I have nothing but regard for Derek Jeter, who has had a storied career; but there should have been something for Gwynn. For the fans. For baseball. A moment of silence. Some words of tribute. Something. At least Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles had it right.dddddddddddd He wrote in marker on his baseball cap the initials TG with the number 19. He had the sense of moment baseball didnt have. Gary Lawless, TSN Radio My thumb is up to Canadas national mens field lacrosse team for winning the world championship last night. Canada defeated the U.S., handing the Americans just their third loss in tournament history dating back to 1967. All three of those U.S. losses have come to Canada and all three in championship games, 1978, 2006 and now 2014. Lacrosse is our national sport but its box lacrosse most Canadians play, not field. In fact, Canada has never lost a box lacrosse game at the worlds. Winning the field championship doesnt qualify as a shock but more of a nice surprise. Congrats to Team Canada, who just so happened to be one of the youngest teams weve ever sent to the worlds, and will be a very serious threat to repeat in 2018. Dave Hodge, TSN My thumb is up to the refreshing comments of relief pitcher/closer Huston Street as he departed the bottom-feeding San Diego Padres for the playoff-bound Los Angeles Angels. There would be lots to say about the horrible state of the Padres franchise, but street said this; "I believe in the ownership--they want to win--theyre not satisfied with the status quo. I blame the players for what has happened here." Well, even though theres plenty of blame to go around and it does extend to the front office and to ownership - the Padres field a lineup that is not of big-league quality - Street is quite right, as a player, to let others find fault with others and to say that, of all the reasons teams lose, the biggest reason is always that players perform badly.
